Transfer Student Requirements

Welcome, future Tiger! We鈥檙e excited to have you consider joining our vibrant community at Tennessee State. As a transfer student, you bring valuable academic credits from another college or university, and while you may have experienced college life before, you鈥檒l find that our environment offers unique opportunities and challenges. Please note : The transfer admission GPA is a 2.0 average from all college/university institutions attended. We require all college transcripts to consider admission. We do not have a transfer appeal if students do not meet this GPA requirement.听

To ensure a smooth transition, here鈥檚 what you need to complete as part of your application process:

  1. Complete the Transfer Application: Make sure to fill out every required section. This is the first step in your journey!

  2. Official High School Transcript: Submit an official transcript that clearly indicates your graduation date. This helps us understand your academic background. Must have signature from college official and list graduation date.听

  3. Official College Transcripts: Provide official transcripts from all colleges you鈥檝e attended. Please ensure these do not include in-progress grades for the term you鈥檙e applying for. Official transcripts must have signature from Registrar and be on official college paper. We do not accept Banner Unofficial Transcripts.听

It鈥檚 essential to meet these requirements for a smooth application process. Any missing documents could lead to delays, so be sure to double-check everything before you submit!

Once Admitted - Next Steps

Take the necessary steps to ensure your successful transition:

1. Complete the FAFSA Application: This is essential for determining your financial aid eligibility. Do not delay.

2. Fill Out the Transcript Evaluation Document: Complete the Audit Transcript Request and email it to Records @tnstate .edu . This step is crucial for assessing your transfer credits.

3. Contact Your Academic Department Chair: Once your transcripts have been reviewed, reach out to your department chair to register for classes. This is a mandatory step to ensure you are on track.

Non-Traditional Student?

An adult or non-traditional student is defined not just by age (typically over 24) but also by a variety of life circumstances that differ from those of traditional students. These circumstances may include:

  • Being a parent
  • Being married, divorced, or single
  • Caring for elderly parents
  • Serving as a veteran
  • Returning to college after time spent in the workforce or at home
  • Entering college for the first time rather than immediately after high school

If you're transferring from a Tennessee Community College, you鈥檒l benefit from our articulation agreement, which facilitates the transfer of credits to 91制片厂 for the following degree paths:
