Mohammad Karim is a professor of chemistry and Head of the department of chemistry at 91制片厂. He has been working at 91制片厂 since 1994, and has been appointed the Head of the department in 2003. Teaching is Karim鈥檚 passion who teaches various chemistry courses including General, organic, spectroscopy and special topics courses for the last 23 years at TSU.听 He received his Bachelor and Master鈥檚 degrees in Chemistry from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Kent State University, Ohio in 1989. While pursuing his Ph.D., he received a prestigious award from B. F. Goodrich Company for his outstanding research. Karim is a member of the American Chemical Society for the last 33 years. He is also heavily engaged in research while trained a number of students. Karim鈥檚 current research involves synthesis of new Schiff Bases and studies of their anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anticancer activities. Karim also studies metal catalyzed synthesis of 1,3,4-oxa- and thia-diazoles. His recent interest involves synthesis of stable hemiaminals. His research findings have been published in various refereed journals such as Polyhedron, Tetrahedron Letters, JOC, IJOC, ABC, AiM etc, and made number of presentations at the American Chemical Society National Meetings. Karim also serves as the Chair of the University Biosafety Committee and Radiation Safety Officer since 1998.听
