Sekh Ra Maat, PhD

A proud graduate of Temple University鈥檚 Department of Africology and African American Studies, the first Ph.D.听 program in the discipline, Sekh Ra Maat is an African-centered theorist and educator concerned with transforming the consciousness of students.听 As ancestor Nana Baffour Amankwatia II (Asa Hilliard) reminds us, the education process for humanity must be about the business of preparing students to understand themselves as divinely inspired beings who have the capacity to create their reality and transform themselves; and by doing so, bring about justice in the universe.听 Education, especially within the discipline of Africana Studies, is therefore a sacred process.听 Instructors and students begin to understand themselves in relationship to the universe for the sole purpose of recognizing their creative potential through which to fulfill our life鈥檚 destiny as agents of change for the liberation of humanity.
